A horse-led beginning

Care rooted in calm handling, consistency and respect for each horse’s long-term wellbeing.

Our Beginning

SBZ Equine began from a simple principle:

If we are entrusted with a horse, we give it the best care we can. From the outset, our work has centred on ensuring each horse has the right environment to settle, learn, and progress with confidence.

Over time, this approach has shaped SBZ Equine into a dedicated equine care and development service, grounded in consistency, calm handling, and respect for the long-term well-being of every horse.

In partnership with JMQ Bloodstock

Together with JMQ Bloodstock, SBZ Equine provides a joined-up solution covering every stage of equine development and performance.

A stud with deep roots in Newmarket’s racing tradition

Egerton Stud forms part of one of Newmarket’s historic equine estates, long connected with the early era of Royal racing patronage. While Richard Marsh trained Derby and Royal Ascot winners for the future King Edward VII at nearby Egerton House, the stud developed alongside this heritage, supporting breeding and youngstock development in the heart of British thoroughbred country.

Today, the site retains the character and quiet purpose of its origins, while supporting a modern, welfare-led approach to horsemanship and equine development.

“We believe horses thrive when the care they receive is thoughtful, steady and always centred on their needs.”
